What you first notice when you walk into a Girls in Tech networking event is not that it’s an all-women event — it’s the pitch. No, not a startup pitch, but the tone of the room; inside V Lounge in Santa Monica, the room buzzed with the excited voices of a crowd of women talking about what they do best: tech. Gone was the low buzzing of men’s voice (the only ones allowed were yes, the brave four who crashed this bash, and a few bartenders) and instead one was left listening to all the girls talking, laughing and drinking.
I met up with the lovely Laurie Percival and Jackie Peters, who managed to drag women into the bathroom for interviews — seeing as how it was the only quiet place in the entire venue.
