Around 16 guys and gals from the LA and Houston tech scene spent the weekend together February 13-16th. An idea that sprang up from Twitter quickly began to get tossed around and then surprisingly planned and executed. Francisco Dao took the reins and started putting the idea in to action. He created a Facebook page where people could get the details on the weekend and RSVP. Robyn and Todd Cohen offered up their parents Park City mansion as diggs for a large number of the group, we were lucky enough to get to stay in the “Paris Hilton Suite”. No joke, she actually stayed there during Sundance once (no we didn’t find any porn tapes in the room).
So the first thing you should know about Park City is that their is a major altitude difference and thus you have to drink large amounts of water. This becomes a bit of a problem if you are tying to consume large amounts of alcohol as I was on Friday night. If I hadn’t, I know I would never have completed the Cohen Family Tradition. Which by the way is jumping out of the hot tub and doing a snow angel, in 30 degree weather. Did I mention I was wearing a bikini. As crazy as it sounds it was actually quite fun, so fun in fact that I felt compelled to do it a second time with Robyn. The best snow angel I hear was Sean’s, who didn’t quite make the angel part but just laid down in the snow, decided it was too cold to actual move his arms, and quickly jumped back up. Unfortunately I missed that but I did get to see Chris Darbro lay down in the chaise lounge that was covered in snow and act like he was sunbathing. You guys could have seen it all too, if my husband hadn’t dropped the HD Flip into the jacuzzi. Oh well some things are just too good for video. We did manage to snag some other activities from the weekend. Check out the clip below direct from the mountain.
By day we played in the snow, at night it was billiards, Wii and movies on a screen so big you thought you were in a theater. What can I say, the place was absolutely amazing. With breath taking views and over 10,000 square feet. But no day would be complete without each one of crew getting on their laptops. We dubbed the living room the “internet cafe” and there seemed to be a good amount of tweets flowing all weekend long, some accounts were even hijacked temporarily. Check out some of the favorite over heards from the weekend:
@paigecraig HE: She wants a baby SHE: (glares) HE: We want a baby
@sloane OH: “You nailed me so many times last weekend…in paintball.” (Laurie to Paige)
@lauriepercvial OH: “I even shaved my pubic hair for this” (from a guy)
The most surprising part of the weekend was when I opened up the front door to a delivery guy. He had a vase filled with roses and lilies for one of the lucky ladies in the house, it was Valentines day after all. I won’t say who they were from only that they were not for either of the married ladies. Love was in the air for more than just the couples, check out the chemistry between Paige and Ulysses:
The park city crew included Paige Craig, Sloane Berrent, Francisco Dao, Mike Prasad, Chris Darbro, Alexandra Mokh, Erica OGrady, Matt Robbins, Andy Sternberg, Lisa Borodkin, “The Cohen’s” Robyn Cohen and Todd Cohen, “The Evil Twin” or “#2″ Shawn Cohen and his sweetie Ashley Cantu, yours truly and Mr. Sean Percival. I had an amazing time and can’t wait to do it again. Thank you to all of the Cohen’s for hosting. The last I heard on twitter there might be weekend writing workshop being planned? I’ll keep you posted.
