“Celebrate your inner geek.” That is the message behind the first ever GeekOut, an invitation only event that is aiming to bring together geeks from the entertainment and tech industries. The Society for Geek Advancement and Tubefilter have gotten the one and only media empress Shira Lazar to play host for the event being held on Monday, May 11th, at the W Hotel in Westwood.
The evening promises a live streaming DJ, a digital photobooth and geektinis, though I think I would much rather order a flirtini. You can also make you own shirts, thanks to NerdyShirts and use the 12seconds patio to tell the world why you are a geek. Note: Please do this only after consuming plenty of geektinis.
GeekOut will also be celebrating the launch of I AM A GEEK!, a video featuring some of the biggest personalities in the social networking and web 2.0 space, including:
Shaq, Steve Wozniak, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Pollak, Wil Wheaton, Levar Burton, Jason Calacanis, Samm Levine, Felicia Day, Kevin Rose, Alex Albrecht, Leo Laporte, IJustine, David Karpe, Brian Solis, Veronica Belmont, Sarah Lacy, Randi Zuckerberg, Ton Hsieh, Gary Vaynerchuk, Jonathan Coulton, Kevin Pereira, Tay Zonday, Julia Allison, Julia Roy, Marina Orlova and Shira Lazar

The Society for Geek Advancement was founded upon the principles that we should all embrace our inner and outer geek and have fun while doing it. As individuals who love learning, innovating and believe in possibility as well as change, the second step of responsibility is to “be the geek that keeps on giving.”
Tubefilter is The Web Television Company™. The leading authority in the web television space, Tubefilter News exhaustively covers the industry, the creators, and the stars of this fast-paced, emerging entertainment market. Tubefilter is also the company behind the Streamy Awards, the premiere awards program in web television.
