Scripped.com wants to hear what you have to say about the global financial crisis and the political complexities surrounding it. If you can write a 5-10 page short on the subject, you’re eligible to enter. Registration costs only $10 and if your short is picked, you win $500 and some very good exposure.

The competition is called “Write for a Cause” and started on July 1st. Scripped.com asked your very own gossip writers to be on the panel, and we happily agreed. Alex Albrecht from Diggnation and Alexia Tsotsis from the LA Weekly will also be judging.

If you need an idea for a topic, Sean has expressed that he would like to see a script related to Facebook and/or Twitter and the financial crisis. For the complete list of competition details see Scripped.com, a condensed version from their site is below. Good luck, we look forward to reading your submissions!

Details:

  • Please use standard screenplay format for your submission. Scripped offers free, web-based screenwriting software, and you can register here.
  • Your script should be at least 5 and at most 10 pages in length
  • Any genre is OK as long as your script addresses the financial crisis
  • While the deadline for submission is August 1st, we encourage you to submit early. When your screenplay is done, you can submit here.
  • The winner will be awarded $500, and a significant amount of publicity both within and outside of the Scripped community (including an email to the Harvard Kennedy School current student and alumni list-serv with your script attached)

Date: July 1st to August 1st, 2009

Entry fee: $10
