Recently Scripped.com had a contest that was open to any and all writers. They were looking for a short script with the best take on the economic crisis. Sean and I were invited, as well as Alex Albrecht and Alexia Tsotsis, to be judges of the final five scripts that were chosen.

The winning script, pasted below, addresses something that hits home with many of us, living beyond our means. In today’s world most people don’t have savings put away in the bank. They live paycheck to paycheck and get the items they can’t afford in the moment, on credit. Unfortunately you can go from having it all, to having nothing, and all it takes is for you or your spouse to lose their job.

Magz-Weisman

Magz Weisman is the author of the script, “A Small Cashflow Problem”, and is just now being discovered for her writing. She’s a 43 year old mother of two from the UK and her script was picked unanimously over a professional screenwriter, and a professional producer. Congrats Magz, time to start a blog!

Scripped.com is throwing an event to congratulate Magz on her win, and to announce their next competition. It’s scheduled on October 9th, at the Mahalo office in Santa Monica. During the event Scripped will launch their next contest which involves Alex Albrecht.

Here’s a sneak peek.
