Canabalt: Highly Addictive No Commitment Required

Since my love affair with Spymaster ended, I have been searching for a game to give my undivided attention to. Lucky for me Canabalt popped up on my radar.

It’s a highly addictive game that is really simple in design. Your character, a suited man, is running across rooftops and through buildings of a seemingly endless screen of city. There are office obstacles, a strange mist and a bunch of elements that are designed to startle you and possibly cause you to fall to your death.

Every time you successfully navigate an obstacle the little man starts running faster. Your adrenaline starts pumping and it becomes more difficult to time your jumps. Once you smack into a wall or fall to your death, which you most certainly will, the game will let you know how many  yards you made. Overall I really enjoy the one button simplicity of the game, though I wish there was a scoreboard so you could see how you compare to other players.

The creators recommend that you play the game with great speakers or headphones and that you crank it up. Enjoy your new time suck.

Canabalt – was created by AdamAtomic, a 27 year old guy from Austin Texas. This is the first game he has submitted to Armor Games and he was able to make it in just five days. Music by the one and only Danny B.
