Love the Climate!

Live Earth wants you to get involved with their “love the climate” campaign. What is that you might ask? Here’s what Andy Sternberg had to say about it:

“It’s great that people are making calls and sending emails to Congress, but we think that a well-executed social media campaign can add a new and highly effective dynamic to the cause. If we stir it up a little with multimedia and create positive buzz in advance of the Climate Bill hitting the Senate Floor (as opposed to the “it’s now or never for the environment” gloom and doom) we can raise awareness of the issues in the Climate Bill.”

By focusing on the positive aspects of the environment, they are looking for people to send messages of hope. The best messages will be picked and sent on to senators that will be voting on the Climate Bill.

There are three different ways to enter the competition, but I really love the video approach. Especially if people get creative and playful like Shira Lazar did in her sample submission. See below for complete details on how to enter.

“What would the climate have to say if it were happy and healthy and had a voice? What message would it send from its bright future? Now you have a chance to speak for the trees.”

Date: Contest runs from September to September 25. All entries must be submitted by then to enter the contest, but killer videos received after then will still be passed on to the senators.

Ways to Enter:

Leave a Voice Mail -thank a senator for improving the world. You can call the number provided or click on the link and they’ll call you so it’s on their dime not yours.
Facebook Comment -visit the Love the Climate Facebook page and leave a note, a message, a photo or a link to content that demonstrates why senators should pass the climate bill.
Make a Video – be funny, creative but most of all show how much you love a green world and have fun with it.

Winners: will be picked randomly and 10 “love pack” prizes will be given away.
