If you’ve joined the rest of us social media sheep you’ve no doubt already tried FourSquare. This fun little location based service allows you to check-in at various places around town. In a hyper-connected world this level of stalkability has proven to be enjoyable for some.
Through your travels on Foursquare you may have also noticed you can earn badges for some activities. There isn’t a ton of information online about these badges so we thought we compile a list for you. I’ll even tell you how you can earn each one.
Foursquare has several city based badges only available in those locations so we’ll just focus on the badges everyone can get. Rumor has it that soon the users themselves will be able to make their own badges.
That should be interesting.
You’re a total noob, get this badge after your first check-in.
Check-in to 10 unique venues and you get the Adventurer Badge.
Now you’re moving, after checking into 25 unique venues you can unlock the Explorer Badge.
When you become officially addicted and have checked in at 50 unique venues, congrats you’re a superstar.

When you check-in to 4 unique locations in 1 given night you’re officially Crunked.
If you check-in at the same venue 3 times in 1 week you get the Local Badge. At this point you’re likely to already be in a heated mayorship race with your coworkers.

Playa Please! Get this badge when checking into a venue that also contains 3 members of the opposite sex.
I just got this one recently during TechCrunch50. Basically you get the badge when you check in after 3am on a weekday (aka school night).
After checking in at 3 venues that contain a photo booth, you get the Photogenic Badge. Although I’m not sure how the system knows exactly which venues house such a thing.
Don’t Stop Believin’
Here a badge just for Asians. Check-in at 3 venues that are tagged with karaoke to get the Don’t Stop Believin’ badge.
This one is probably one of the more challenging badges for a geek to obtain. You get the Gym Rat Badge by checking into 10 venues tagged “gym” within a 30 day timespan.
Initially I thought this badge might be awarded for checking in at a OBGYN, however it’s not. You get the Overshare Badge if you check-in 10 or more times within a 12 hour time span.
