The Ultimate Geek Gift Guide

The Ultimate Geek Gift Guide

Tis’ the season to impress your geeky friends with cool presents. Yes the holidays are upon us, and even in this bad economy you should still buy something for your closest friends and/or lovers. But what to get the modern geek?

Thanks to things like Amazon Prime and over extended credit cards, most geeks already have everything they want. That makes them rather hard to shop for. However if you really like someone, and want to totally blow them away this year, I’d recommend any of the following digital delights.

owle-iphone

OWLE (Optical Widget for Life Enhancement)

Here at lalawag we fully support any ‘life enhancement’ gadget, especially when it works with our iPhones. This add-on turns the wimpy built-in camera of the iPhone into something useable. You get a new wide angle lens, solid case and external microphone. With the OWLE you can now capture audio to go with your video.

archos

Archos 5 Internet Tablet with Android

Sad news today, the Crunchpad is dead (maybe). So if you’re anything like me you still really want a tablet, and you don’t exactly want to wait for Apple to bless us with one. So get the Internet tablet of tomorrow, today with the Archos, Internet Tablet with Google’s Android OS. I’m not totally sure what that means yet but, yay! Google! Soon enough everyone will be walking around with these things, totes like Star Trek.

bugatti-kettle

Casa Bugatti Vera Electric Kettle

Wow! I don’t even drink tea and I want one of these. Of course many other geeks do, like Kevin Rose. This thing looks like a prop from the movie Gattaca. Yes I do declare this a TILF (teapot I’d like to ::WHISSSSSSTLE::).

bliptronic-5000-led

Bliptronic 5000 LED Synthesizer

“If HAL 9000 mated with R2-D2 and their electronic offspring was tutored by Kraftwerk it would probably end up something like the Bliptronic 5000 LED Synthesizer.” Couldn’t of said it better myself, and at only $50 this one is actually affordable.

motorola-droid

Motorola Droid

What’s that you say? Your geek wants a phone that has solid reception and is open as the day is long? Nonsense!

Well good thing actually, because the Motorola Droid is only available through Verizon and also supports the Android OS from Goole. So as well as giving them a cool smartphone, you’ll also be helping to end dropped calls worldwide.

sanos

Sonos Music System

The latest fetish of any audiophile these days is the Sonos Music System. Probably because you can easily sync your entire iTunes library with the rest of your house. Go on, live a little and play Phil Collins in the kitchen, listen to techno in the office and Barry Manalow in the bedroom (BOW CHICA BOWOW).

Did we miss something? Is there something else you’d really like to find under your tree this year? Let us know in the comments, oh and you can’t say @avflox btw.
