Ad.ly: Most of Your Followers are Dudes

Local Twitter-tising start-up Ad.ly has just launched a nice little analytics package for your Twitter account. Not a bad move considering that if there is one thing Twitter users can’t get enough of, it’s more data about themselves.

The new service is simply called Ad.ly analytics and is free to get started, plus a monthly fee for more detail. It’s straightforward enough: connect your Twitter account via Oauth and you’re given a series of stats or charts about your account. The breakdown includes the following:

  1. Whether your followers are engaged or disengaged,
  2. Male to Female ratio,
  3. Location,
  4. Time of day you are most often retweeted, and
  5. Your most influential followers.

Naturally, you can easily share this data with your followers—what better way to get the word out. Now that a few of my friends have done it, it’s not hard to see a big trend here. In most cases, there are significantly more males following you than females. Another trend is that you people think you have actual influence—how silly!

The service is powered by PeopleBrowsr, the data mine of Jodee Rich who was recently awarded $15 million in a recent court case against a bunch of pissed off Aussies.

You can try it out yourself at http://analytics.ad.ly/.
