Qwotebook: A Place To Share Your Favorite Quotes

The recently launched site Qwotebook is rapidly gaining popularity this week. I came across it when Louis Gray wrote a nice little post about it on his site. It’s like a reference book and cozy home for not only famous quotes but those mind numbing witty nuggets that are occasionally dropped into your tweet stream never to be seen again. Until now.

With Qwotebook you can add any quote you want and share it with your friends. You reference the name of the person who said the quote and add context like when you heard the quote and what it refers to. You can even tag the quote as well. If the person who said the quote is already a Qwotebook member their name will populate for you to select for attribution. If it’s someone famous or someone that doesn’t have an account yet, the site will automatically make one and upload a pic for it.

I added a quote from Bill Maher and the site created this account for him:

The initial sign up is kinda like what Twitter newbies experience. Until you start following people or adding quotes, there is nothing to see on your profile page. You can however click the home button and see the most recently added qwotes to the site. To find people to follow you check out the qwotebot’s following list.

One of our favorite people in the whole wide world, Drew Olanoff, is the creator of the site. He is working with developers from I Heart Movies to keep everything running smoothly. He often says quotable, inspiring things like the phrase below, so it makes sense that this site would come from him:

Qwotebook is still in Beta and has limited access but Drew has kindly given us 250 invites for the wonderful lalawag readers. To try out Qwotebook visit the site and use the code “lala”.

If you have any trouble getting on don’t hesitate to drop them an email, they have excellent customer service. Mike Davis from the Qwotebook team was awesome at answering any questions I had and helping with the technological hiccups I always seem to encounter.

Follow them on Twitter @qwotebook.
