Seeing a need in the webseries space for content creators to gain access and information from proven creators, Brian Rodda and Matthew Arevalo have joined forces to create NewMedialocity. They announced late last week that NewMedialocity; The New Media Academy and Screening Mixer, would be an academy for the next generation of digital creatives paired with an industry networking event.
“With digital studios like Crackle, Fox Television Studios 15 Gigs, Babelgum, and more finding success and expanding rapidly, there is a growing industry need for professional digital creatives that provide New Media content in this space,” said Matthew Arevalo, Co-Founder of NewMedialocity, “Our students will learn from industry insiders and award winners, the story of their success and their struggles, valuable insight needed to compete in web television and beyond.”
The academy consists of four-week courses that focuses on these areas, creative development, production, post production/technology and social networking/sponsorship. Each class will be taught in a supportive and creative environment and feature guest speakers and teachers that have developed successful models.
Some of the guests slated for the fist course include: Bernie Su (Compulsions), Elizabeth Flack (WGA New Media), Liz Shannon Miller, (NewTeeVee), Mark Gantt (The Bannen Way).
Each screening mixer will t feature the work of their students and other leading industry creatives. After the screening there will be a Q&A session with the creators. The screening mixers are set up to give people the chance to mingle and interact with other professionals that share the same passions.
NewMedialocity is hosting an open house tonight so others can get acquainted with Dogma Studios, learn more about the academy and have a great time networking with other industry professionals. The evening will include live music, great guests, a surprise interactive experience. The Worldfare Bus will also be on site, yum, and drinks will be available.
