AudioMicro announced last night that they have acquired Audioo, a voicemail company based in Manhattan Beach, Ca. Audioo, known as the “Blippy of voicemail”, has relaunched their site as a way to share voicemail that also allows people to search, browse and listen in on other people’s voicemails.

“Audioo users are already sharing every conceivable type of voicemail, including drunk-dial calls, the ramblings of crazy ex-girlfriends and boyfriends, and much more,” said Ryan Born, chief executive officer, AudioMicro and Audioo.  “The service has only been up a short while, but some of the voicemails already posted are just insane.”

The service was unveiled on Monday, May 24, 2010 at TechCrunch Disrupt, a conference currently taking place in New York. The service will publish your voicemail to the Audioo website and to your Facebook and Twitter account for optimal sharing. While on the Audioo site, visitors can browse and listen to voicemails by area code and category, including ones like “drunk”, “funny”, and “sexy”. Visitors also have the ability to share the amazingly bad but “oh so good” voicemails they find through Twitter and Facebook.

Audioo is currently hosting a contest called “Jerkin’ with The Jerky Boys.” To participate, just submit a voicemail to Audioo from now until June 30th. It will be judged by Johnny Brennan, creator of The Jerky Boys. He will select the funniest voicemail and the winner will receive an Apple iPad. Get more information about the contest here. The service is free, and there are a variety of ways you can submit your message. To register for an Audioo account, visit www.audioo.com.

AudioMicro stated in their press release that they will operate Audioo as a separate division, and the entire development team will remain with the company. Audioo President Yuri Baranov will assume the role of chief operating officer for both Audioo and AudioMicro and Audioo founder Ben Padnos will remain a company advisor.

Start drinking and leaving those voicemails people, I have work to be distracted from!
