Prince Hates the Internet

In what can only be described as a truly bizarre interview granted by Prince, the artist who used to be known as a symbolic image, he has stated his extreme dislike for the Internet, and indeed, all things technical. I’m sure this doesn’t apply to his magical sound producing electronics, just the ones that everyday people like you and I use.

In the exclusive interview given to the Daily Mirror’s Peter Willis, Prince actually says that the Internet is over:

The Internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it. The Internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.

Really, Prince? Apparently he’s serious about his stance on modern technology. He’s gone so far as to ban his music from high-profile websites like YouTube and iTunes and has even closed down his own official website. Worst of all, check out the Prince MySpace page. And finally, in a move to somehow exclude all geeks from acquiring his music, his latest album, 20TEN, will only be released on CD format and distributed solely through the Daily Mirror.

WTF?!?
