Cyber Shopping Tips
1.) Stick to the sites you know. If something looks a little wonky on a shopping site, it probably is. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to change my bank account number because of online shopping. It’s much better if you go directly to the site rather than getting lost Googling.
2.) Get the details of your order. Make sure you know when it should be shipping and mark your calendar for when it should arrive. Be sure to jot down the phone number so you can call them if for some reason your 17 multicolored hoolahoops haven’t arrived on time.
3.) How do you tell if a website is secure? There are a few ways to make yourself feel safe on a site (although nothing is ever REEEALLLY secure). When you are officially on the “billing” page, you should notice the URL change from http:// to https:// . This additional S means the site is secure and your information will be “securely” passed along. You can also sometimes see a closed padlock image at the bottom of your screen. If this padlock picture is open, it isn’t a secure site.
