Lalawag’s 8 Favorite Tech Gadgets from CES 2011

CES can be an overwhelming dump of announcements and information so we here at Lalawag have put together a little roundup of some of the most interesting gadgets to catch our eye in the first day. If you need to know of the coolest new tech to geek out on your friends with, you’ve come to the right place.

Motorola Atrix 4G Superphone:

This is one of the coolest features a smartphone has had. There’s a dock accessory that basically turns the phone into a computer when you plug it in. You can use your mouse on it and it comes with a full featured version of Firefox complete with Flash 10.1. Then, when you have to go again, everything on screen is just the way you left off. Pretty damn cool.

Sony 3D Cyber-Shot Cameras:

These new Sony point and shoot cameras are capable of taking 3D still images and are slated to be affordable at a $220-$380 price range.

Motorola Droid Bionic:

The latest phone from the company that made the original Droid. Looks like they ditched the slide out keypad for a very large 4.3″ touchscreen.

Samsung Series 9 Notebook:

Damn, how sexy do these things look? They’re supposedly lighter than the Macbook Air but have a Core i5 processor inside. Samsung says they will retail for about $1600 and run Windows.

Toshiba’s Glasses-Free 3D TVs:

They’ve already launched 12 and 20 inch versions of these 3D TVs in Japan, but are planning on launching beefy 40-60 inch televisions by the end of the year. Not requiring glasses for 3D is huge, although it remains to be seen how good the image quality is.

Microsoft Surface 2:

It’s a coffee table sized touch screen display. Just think of what’s possible with that. Hopefully its lower price will allow it to be installed in places that you or I go to on a regular basis.

Blackberry Playbook:

Blackberry’s tablet that runs neither Android nor iOS. It’s supposedly really fast and enjoyable to use. Coming to Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network in the summer.

Motorola Xoom:

First Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, running on Verizon’s 4G LTE Network. Not much is shown right now except for the media player, but looks very impressive.
