Nintendo 3DS to Hit US Market on March 27

Nintendo 3DS is coming to the U.S. market on March 27. The device, to be offered for $249.99, will be available in cosmo black and cobalt blue and will come with a fixed stylus.

What’s so cool about this device? One, the 3D images in a tiny screen, and even better, there won’t be a need to wear those silly special glasses. The 3DS uses three cameras and a motion sensor to create the 3-D effect, which is adjustable by the user. More than 30 games will be available by early June, many of them in 3-D, Nintendo said.  Nintendo president Satoru Iwata expects a “rocket start” to 3DS sales in the US.

“There will be not only our own software, but also third- party titles, which have the photo-realism that will satisfy Western gamers,” the exec reportedly told Bloomberg. “We expect the 3DS to get off to a rocket start, like the Wii’s debut.”  Nintendo announded in September that it would ship four million 3DS units to retail during the new portable’s first month. Nintendo, the market leader in consoles with the Wii and in portable players since the Gameboy in 1989, sold its first touch-screen DS in 2004.

Apple is getting more social with the latest iOS

Should Facebook keep a wary eye on Apple’s “Media Stream” and “MobileMe”?  Well, maybe it should.  Rumors are that the latest iOS 4.3 beta is brimming with a would-be new feature to be called “Media Stream” – what could be a more social version of iOS.

The Media Stream feature will reportedly include “Photo Streaming” which other iPhone users could “subscribe” to. Also, it looks like there will be some privacy preferences related to this, so you can choose who is allowed to view your “Streams.”  These new features appear to be also tied to MobileMe, which naturally has some speculating that Apple could begin using the cloud for this new social venture. While announcement has yet to be made of their latest earnings, Apple had previously said that their massive North Carolina-based datacenter was set to come online at the end of 2010.

Now, assuming that pushed through, it shouldn’t be a surprise for new cloud-based services to come out soon.  There’s much excitement over Apple actually coming up with a Kin Studio-type of automatic upload feature that will allow you to tag your uploads for either private or public consumption.
