HTC Unveils Flyer Tablet
HTC has finally unveiled the long-rumored Flyer, its 7-inch tablet running on Android 2.4. Known for its attractive, unibody aluminum phones, HTC has retained this aesthetic in a larger form with the Flyer, which weighs slightly less than a pound and is a manageable 0.51-inches thick. The Flyer is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and carries 1GB RAM with 32GB Rom. There’s a lso a front-facing camera for video calls, a back-facing 5-megapixel camera and HSPA+ support along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
To make sure you’re different from all the other tablet-carrying dudes out there, HTC offers a cool app called Scribe which lets you take notes, draw pictures and more directly onto the tablet like you would on a pad of paper. Yes, it comes with a stylus for this purpose. And let’s not forget about HTC’s HD movie service, HTC Watch– which will come with the Flyer– so you can download and watch major motion pictures directly onto the tablet.
No pricing or availability has been announced yet, but rumors are this baby is coming out in Q2.

And now…A Facebook SIM Card
Gemalto, with the help of Facebook (of course), has just made a text-based, on-SIM implementation of basic Facebook functions.
A spokesperson for Facebook has confirmed this development via email:
We worked closely with Gemalto on their Facebook for SIM product and believe it will be another easy and affordable way for people to stay connected through Facebook on the mobile phone of their choice. Facebook for SIM creatively combines technologies from some of our existing mobile solutions that especially are attractive for people with feature phones and have limited or no data plans with a mobile operator. Through the Facebook application on the SIM card people can: Update their status and view comments on it; write on their friends wall; receive notifications; find friends on their SIM phonebook.
The SIM card will allow even the most-for the lack of a better word– basic, handset to have Facebook functionality which will help the social network achieve its goal of becoming the standard social service for all mobile phones.
