Hey! We know you like going to Happy Hour on Thursdays since it’s practically the weekend already. This week, why not get an early start to your weekend while helping out the local community as well?

Twestival 2011 is happening today in 150 cities around the globe. Each city is organizing an event via Twitter and other social media channels in order to raise money to benefit a local charity. LA’s event is hosted by Philanthro and will be held at The Association downtown to benefit Los Angeles Team Mentoring. LATM is dedicated to help mentor young kids who may be growing up in challenging environments to help them reach their full potential. Proceeds from Twestival LA will go towards “field trip opportunities, college visits, community service and art projects, healthy after school snacks and, most importantly, the opportunity to connect with caring adult mentors.”

You can buy tickets here online right now for $10 (that’s $5 off the at the door admission price of $15). The event is from 6-10:30pm, but you’ll get drinks and food specials until 9pm and also be entered in a drawing to win a month of fitness bootcamp from PTSI LA if you bought your tickets online. Everyone attending the event will also get entered into a drawing to win a pair of round-trip air tickets to anywhere JetBlue flies.

So instead of going to the happy hour place you usually go to after work, why not help out the kids this time as well? All of your admission fee will go towards the charity, so if you’re feeling especially generous, you can just pay the at the door admission fee. Plus, as an added bonus, the Komodo food truck will be parked outside too!
