- Amazon announced they sell 105 eBooks for every 100 print books, a feat that took 3.5 years from the launch of the Kindle. Amazon eBook sales are up 300% y/y.
- Tumblr announced 50M daily visitors, generating 255M page views and 650,000 new posts. The company recorded 6B page views in April and 7B in May.
- Apple has signed EMI as a streaming partner for their upcoming music service, rumored to be called iCloud.
- Google has deployed Advisor, a tool for selecting the best credit, debit, mortgage, CD and other financial accounts.
- 275M of Facebook’s users have liked a TV show. The average user likes 6 shows and there have been 1.7B total likes for TV shows, according to Facebook.
- VMWare announced a single-sign-on service for Google Apps, Salesforce, WebEx and other services.
- Netflix comprises 30% of US internet bandwidth. The company has signed a content distribution deal with Miramax opening the 700 movies owned by the studio to subscribers. 25% of all Netflix streams are consumed using an XBox and 33% of XBox’s stream Netflix.
Mobile
- The BlackBerry Playbook has outsold the Motorola Xoom and has reached 250,000 in total sales in the first 30 days of availability.
- Rovio announced 2.9M daily downloads for AngryBirds and a total of 200M cumulative.
Investments
- VuClip, a mobile video provider, raises $8M from NEA and Jafco. The company has served 2B video views in the past 3 years, and is now serving 10M per day serving primarily non-US markets including India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
- Jibe, a New York based social recruiting company, raises $6M from DFJ.
- MongoLab, a MongoDB-as-a-service provider, raises $3M from GRP, Baseline, Foundry and others.
- Eventbrite, an online ticketing platform, raises $50M from Tiger Global.
- StackMob, a mobile platform-as-a-service, raises $7M from Trinity.
- TradeShift, a cloud invoicing platform, raises $7M from Notion Capital.
- Onavo, a mobile application that reduces data consumption, raises $3M from Sequoia.
- Billing Revolution, a mobile payments company, raises $6.6M from DCM and SK Telecom Ventures.

Liquidity
- LinkedIn shares increased 84% in value on first day of trading, reaching a market cap of about $10B.
- Symantec acquires Clearwell, a legal discovery provider, and Redpoint company, for $390M.
- Liberty Media placed a $1B bid to acquire Barnes and Noble. B&N has 1,300 stores and an ebook platform, the Nook, that the company claims has 25% of the ebook market.
- Primedia, operator of Rentals.com and other apartment sites, sells to TPG for $525M.
- Pliant, a flash disk maker, sells to SanDisk for $327M.
- Iron Mountain has sold their digital archiving business to Autonomy for $380M.
