The Los Angeles Times calls it “The video game industry’s Sundance.”
IndieCade is an independent video game festival that takes over all of downtown Culver City on Oct 8-10.  This festival offers: gameplay, workshops, conferences, activities, stations, mixers, happy hours, red carpet events, plus so much more!

Pitch us your service in three sentences or less.

IndieCade is the premiere International Festival of Games that takes over downtown Culver City every year, bringing thousands of fans into the city.  The general festival includes a hands on arcade, live gameplay, night games, an outdoor pavilion and discounts all throughout the local restaurants, bars and shops.  For the gaming professionals there’s a professionals conference, panels, workshops and a red carpet awards ceremony for the independent games that were selected for the competition (last year’s red carpet show was hosted by LeVar Burton of Star Trek fame!).  The Los Angeles Times dubbed IndieCade “The Sundance of Video Games….”

What made you decide to focus your company on that service?

Festival founders Stephanie Barish, Sam Roberts and Celia Pearce, all video game professionals, realized a need to recognize independent game makers in a more organized setting. Indie games, at the time, were being looked over in favor of games that were backed by major publishers.  Since then the gaming community has grown to love, and want to work with more and more, those start up indie games, and IndieCade is at the heart of that. This is apparent with the big name sponsors that continue to sign on to the festival, such as PlayStation Home, LG, Alienware, etc.

What are your next goals? (Either for the current venture or for the company as a whole)

IndieCade plans to continue to grow the festival organically, while also developing a year-round community by hosting events even outside of festival’s time frame in order to keep gamemakers and fans interested throughout the year.

Culver City transforms into an arcade with hands-on gameplay, a free downtown Gamewalk , and so much more. You don’t want to miss out on this event!

Festival tickets just went on sale! Go to www.indiecade.com to purchase tickets now at $12/ticket. Tickets at the door are $15/ticket. The general festival runs on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday October 9. The professionals conference runs October 7 – 9. Buy your tickets ASAP!
