Adobe Acquires Company Created At UCLA Business School

Students, take note — sometimes staying in school really does pay off. At least that’s what Nicholas Seet learned yesterday.

Seet created video monetization platform Auditude as part of the Knapp business plan competition hosted by UCLA, while he was getting his MBA at the Anderson School of Management. Yesterday, industry powerhouse Adobe announced that it had acquired the fledgling company for an undisclosed sum.

In a press release, Adobe said the acquisition would better position the company to support end-to-end video creation and monetization for its customers. “Premium video publishers want to capitalize on the foundational shift to digital by providing viewers with great media experiences and maximizing the value of their content on every IP device,” said David Wadhwani, senior vice president and general manager, Digital Media Business Unit, Adobe. “With this acquisition, Adobe can now offer an unparalleled platform for authoring, distributing, analyzing and monetizing digital video experiences everywhere – simplifying workflows, increasing consumer engagement, delivering insights and driving increased revenue for content publishers.”

So, even though Seet’s MBA may have cost him about $90K, it looks like it has paid off in spades. And it doesn’t take an MBA to appreciate that ROI.
