Airport Life® is an essential app that makes traveling a whole lot easier. Being a pilot for many years, Dan Stratman knows the ins and outs of airports. In order to help other travelers, Straman developed this app to help you out.

Read what creator Stratman had to say about Airport Life®:

Pitch us your app in 3 sentences or less.

Powerful, multi-function travel tool created by a veteran airline Captain to make air travel easier! Everything you need for a hassle-free trip is right at your fingertips in one single application. Airport Life® assists you with every step of the air travel experience.

Tell us about some of the features of this app.

With Airport Life®, you can:

  • Navigate unfamiliar airports with terminal maps that guide you to the gate, lounge, services, stores, and restaurants. No need to track down an airport directory.
  • Enter your flight, rental car, and hotel itinerary information. Get flight updates or changes automatically “pushed” to your phone.* Don’t be the last to know about changes to your flight.
  • Interact with, and share helpful information with other passengers in the airport through the app’s unique social networking “Airport Wall” feature. Free yourself from being totally dependent on the “system” for information about your travel.
  • Use the “Where’s My Car” feature to record pictures, voice memo, GPS location & notes on where you parked your car and your rental car.* Never forget where your car is again.
  • Send your itinerary to anyone you choose via e-mail.
  • Update your family and friends on your travel plans through the app’s built-in interface with Facebook and Twitter.
  • Check your airline’s rules and policies about everything from baggage to cancellations. Level the playing field by knowing the rules.
  • Locate the best restaurants and stores in your airport based on star ratings and user reviews.
  • Access TSA security rules. Know your rights.
  • Track your travel expenses right in the app then e-mail them to yourself after the trip for easy record keeping.* simplify expense reporting.
  • Weather information for your departure and arrival cities. Be prepared.

What made you decide to focus your app on that service?

The airline industry is a gigantic, world-wide business serving billions of passengers. The industry unfortunately also has a big problem; widespread frustration with flying. I thought it would be great if I could use my experience to try to help solve that problem in some way.

How do you deal with competition? Do you keep tabs on other apps that are doing similar things?

I was familiar with other travel apps out there because I used a lot of them during my airline trips to get information. It became annoying to have to switch back-and-forth between numerous apps to find the information I was looking for. Combining all the features into one app (plus other features no other travel app has) seemed much more convenient for passengers. I have an advantage over other travel apps in that I go through many airports on a regular basis because of my job. I always double check my airport maps, and list of airport merchants to see if anything needs updating. This helps keep the app current.

Tell us a little about your background. What made you want to create your own app?

I have been an airline pilot for 23 years. Every flight I do everything I can to make the flight safe for my passengers. One day I decided to combine my “inside” knowledge of the airline industry with the power of mobile devices to make flying easier for passengers. That’s how the app was born.

Your three favorite apps.
