Every year, Google publishes their annual Google Zeitgeist — a visual breakdown of the year that was vis a vis the search queries Google logged throughout the course of the last twelve months.
And, because nothing says ‘Happy New Year’ quite like a year-in-review list, here’s a few interesting facts from the Goole Zeitgeist 2011 edition.
- ‘Rebecca Black’ tops the list of fastest rising terms globally, followed by ‘Google Plus’
- ‘MySpace’ is #1 on the list of fastest falling terms, followed by ‘Hi5′ and ‘Mebo’
- ‘Wendy’s', ‘Just Eat’ and ‘Little Caesars’ are the top 3 on the food & drink list
- ‘Pippa Middleton’ is number three on the fastest rising people list. Her sister Kate is way down in the number 10 spot, right below Osama Bin Laden and Charlie Sheen.
- ‘Amazon Kindle Fire’ was number one on the consumer electronics list. ‘iPad 2′ was number six and ‘iPad 3′ brings the list home at number 10.
