Given our burgeoning entrepreneurial scene, it makes sense that the city of Los Angeles hosts its fair share of tech conferences as well. In fact, Eventbrite alone lists over a dozen tech conferences taking place in our “Silicon Beach” tech scene at the moment. Of course, with so many cool conferences on the calendar, it can be hard to decide which events are worth actually attending.
Our friends at Spaphile (an LA-based deals site) are putting on a “Relax After Taxes Pamper Event” at the Pink Taco in the Century City shopping plaza on Saturday from 3-7pm
So there’s a digital marketing conference happening early next week at the Moscone Center in San Francisco called ad:tech. Though it pains me to write about an event that is happening in San Francisco and not here in LA, we can still reap some benefits from it since they will be live streaming many of their keynotes and conferences on their YouTube channel.
Twestival 2011 is happening today in 150 cities around the globe. Each city is organizing an event via Twitter and other social media channels in order to raise money to benefit a local charity. LA’s event will be held at The Association downtown to benefit Los Angeles Team Mentoring.
Do you have ideas? Of course you do, you’re an extremely bright Lalawag reader.
The hardest task with ideas isn’t coming up with them, though, it’s executing on them and turning those ideas into reality. That’s what our friends over at IdeaMensch LA are hoping to help you out with at their first event coming up on March 30th at Culver City marketing agency, WONGDODY.
Last weekend, some of LA’s best and brightest entrepreneurs and developers participated in a sold out Startup Weekend event out at Coloft in Santa Monica. We caught up with Avesta Rasouli, one of the co-founders of Coloft, and got his thoughts on what went down that weekend.
So you’re an aspiring web video star. You look at iJustine’s million plus YouTube subscribers and go “How in the hell did she do that?”
You may want to consider going to Tubefilter’s Hollywood Web Television Meetup next Wednesday at Busby’s on Wilshire.
Happy New Year! I know that usually sounds like champagne, resolutions and magnum sized hangovers. But this is second New Year’s – the one with dragons, firecrackers and dumplings.
A couple of weeks ago, we attended a forum at Caltech on the entrepreneurship and consumer opportunities that the upcoming Ultraviolet initiative will present. Here’s our recap of the event complete with some photos and video!
By now we have all heard that Eli Broad is all set to open up his new museum next to…
Tomorrow night, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council Young Professionals Program (aka the Los Angles Angels of Anaheim LAWACYPP) will hosting an event at Manatt on the West Side near Olympic and Sawtelle. The CEO of Mattel, Robert A. Eckert, will be on hand for a talk and Q&A session.
If you’re an entrepreneur or work in the digital content space, we urge you again to consider attending the “New Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Digital Entertainment: The UltraViolet Approach” forum at CalTech Tomorrow morning.
Have you heard about the UltraViolet initiative yet?
If you’re an entrepreneur working in the digital content/media arena, it’s something you need to make sure you are familiar with in the very near future. Heck, even if you’re just someone like me who loves watching movies at home or on the go, this is something you should pay attention to.
CES can be an overwhelming dump of announcements and information so we here at Lalawag have put together a little roundup of some of the most interesting gadgets to catch our eye in the first day. If you need some fodder to geek out with your friends, you’ve come to the right place.
