ITEC 2008!

ITEC 2008!

Personally I love doing public speaking gigs. Its really the best place to meet folks and share ideas. So when the big guy, Chris Brogan himself, asked me to speak at the upcoming ITEC show I was glad to ablige. Normally a show for IT professionals (which I was in a former life), they are now starting to integrate the new social technologies out there.

Being the first time ITEC has come to Los Angeles I imagined the attendance to be light. A little bird told me the previous days keynote with Chris had about 30 people. So doing some quick social currency math, I sarcastically figured I would get about 3 audience members. Turns out that was just about what I got, plus 5 or so exhibitors.

In all fairness, at 9am on a weekday I can’t fault anyone for not showing up. Have you ever tried to drive in downtime during this time? Conferences seems to love to torture us by making us keep normal work hours. Don’t they know there are parties the night before and of course room service?

As we left some more folks did eventually start showing up. I’m also told that the other regional stops on the ITEC tour are much busier. Please, for the love of god people go to these shows! They are all free however my Moon river performance is available only in Los Angeles.

For now.
