LaidOffCamp Comes to LA

The first national LaidOffCamp was held on March 3, 2009 in SF and attracted more than 400 attendees. The success of the event led to national media coverage and inspired individuals in over 25 cities to launch their own LaidOffCamp organizations and events. The gathering is a community-based approach, similar to that of BarCamp, aimed at assisting like-minded professionals in re-establishing themselves in the job market via panels, workshops and networking. So if you have been out there pounding that pavement, using your contacts, and hustling to get a job with no success, this event is for you.

LaidOffCamp comes to Los Angeles on May 1st, 2009. It is being produced by a diverse group of volunteers, many of whom are also currently seeking new professional opportunities or are self-employed entrepreneurs. Blankspaces generously donated their co-working space to host the event. It is completely free, but you should RSVP below if you are planning on attending. You can follow their updates on Twitter @laidoffcampLA.

Get to know them

LaidOffCamp is a barcamp (community-driven conference) where people that are currently unemployed get together to help one another through workshops, panels and discussions on everything from employment strategies, building personal brand, striking out on your own to coping with unemployment stress and finding a co-working space.
